Why buy a piano stool?

Bad posture can not only affect your playing, it can cause all kinds of unnecessary strain. Sitting at the right height – with the correct arm and hand positioning – is key to comfort and maximising playing potential.

So whilst you could use a spare chair, this is unlikely to offer you the correct seating position and could restrict playing ability.

We’d always recommend investing in an adjustable piano stool to allow you the flexibility to alter the seat position for different players, or for your stool to grow with the needs of a young player.

 

Single piano stools

Most pianos are played by more than one pianist, so it’s a good idea to purchase an adjustable piano stool where the height can be changed to suit the player.
