Detailed Description

DKC500R XG

  • Self-Playing Capabilities: The unit controls the Disklavier’s solenoids, which are small electromagnets that physically push the piano keys and pedals to reproduce a performance. The system’s sensors record nuanced data, including key and hammer velocity (with up to 1024 dynamic levels) and pedal position (with 256 increments), to ensure an authentic and expressive playback.
  • XG Tone Generator: The “XG” in the name refers to Yamaha’s Extended General MIDI format. The DKC500R XG has an internal XG tone generator, which allows it to play back accompanying orchestral or other instrument sounds along with the piano part from compatible MIDI files. To hear these sounds, you need to connect the unit’s stereo audio output to external amplified speakers (included).
  • Media and Storage: It features a floppy disk drive for playing music stored on 3.5-inch disks and a CD drive for playing “PianoSoft PlusAudio” CDs, which contain both MIDI data for the piano and audio for the accompaniment.
  • Recording and Playback: Users can record their own performances directly onto a floppy disk. The unit offers controls for playback, recording, and editing, including the ability to cancel the left or right hand part so a user can play along. It also has a metronome function for recording.
  • Physical Interface and Connectivity: The unit has an LCD screen and a variety of buttons for navigating functions, selecting songs, and adjusting parameters like tempo, volume, and transposition. It also comes with a remote control. In terms of connections, it has MIDI IN/OUT, as well as AUX IN and AUX OUT ports for connecting to other audio equipment
