This Yamaha U1M was built in the mid-1980’s during Yamaha’s Golden Age of piano building, when all of the manufacturing took place in Japan, and by the very best craftsmen. The materials used were of the highest quality, and so the pianos from this era are famed for being highly durable, retaining their quality for many decades.
This example has a well-balanced sound across the keyboard, with a deep, rich and powerful bass, a resonant and strong middle section, and a bell-like treble. The action is light and quick, making all passage work really smooth and easy.
Overall, it is a highly versatile instrument suitable for students and professionals. It has been maintained and tuned to the highest standards, and will give many more decades of good service in the future. The cabinet is in very good condition, for its age.
