Detailed Description
This Yamaha UX was built in the mid-late 1970’s, during Yamaha’s Golden Age of piano building, when all of the manufacturing took place in Japan, and by the very best craftsmen. The materials used were of the highest quality, and so the pianos from this era are famed for being highly durable, retaining their quality for many decades.
It is Yamaha’s tallest model, and it has a warm and rich bass alongside a sweet and clear treble section that is also remarkably open and strong. The sound as a whole is further supported by its cross-braced frame, a feature that is no longer available with new Yamahas due to its being so expensive to manufacture.
The Yamaha UX also uses higher-grade wood and felt for the hammers and dampers, when compared to a standard U3. The action is light and quick, with good, balanced weighting that makes all passage work really smooth and controlled.
This piano has been fully refurbished by Yamaha in Japan (the Yamaha Piano Service Corporation), and comes with a Yamaha Certificate of Authenticity.
The cabinet has been fully repolished by Yamaha, and is distinguished by its elegantly angled side arms, in which the fallboard sits perfectly when raised.
Overall, it is a highly versatile instrument suitable for students and professionals. It has been maintained and tuned to the highest standards, and will give many more decades of good service in the future.
