Four Characteristics Which Define the Kawai GX Series

With over 90 years’ experience producing instruments of the highest calibre, Kawai have established a reputation for consistency of quality which few manufacturers can rival. The GX Series are among Kawai’s most popular products, and are available from Richard Lawson Pianos of Rickmansworth. These performance-grade grand pianos are successors to the world-famed RX series, fusing the latest technological innovations with exquisite craftsmanship to produce instruments of distinction. Featuring tapered solid spruce soundboards, the renowned Millennium III action, multi-grip maple pin-blocks and more, the GX series represents a tasteful blend of traditional and modern design features. Read on to find out four of the distinctive characteristics of this series.

The Touch

When you spread your fingers across the keys of any one of these GX series grand pianos, you will feel the difference with the company’s trademark Millennium III action. Manufactured using parts made of carbon-infused ABS, this component gives the model unparalleled responsiveness, and the exclusive NEOTEX key surface material imitates the texture and touch of real ebony and ivory keys, creating a natural feel across the whole keyboard.

The Strength

Kawai pianos are built to last, and the quality of the GX series offers a focussed strength to provide long-lasting durability. Each piano in this range has a number of features to make sure that you will enjoy the instrument for decades to come, including a stretcher over-lap integrated design, a steel-reinforced key skip, a V-Pro cast iron plate and a hard maple multi-grip pin-block. Even when repeatedly used in institutional environment, these actions stay in prime condition.

The Tone

The tone is one of the outstanding aspects of the Kawai GX series. The star of the show is the high-quality spruce soundboard, along with the dual duplex scaling, the vertically laminated bridge design, brass agraffes and pressed wool hammers. The blend of hardwoods that is used enables the perfect balance of tone to be achieved.

The Presence

As well as having a fantastic sound, a Kawai GX series is also an object of great beauty. Featuring a European round-arm cabinet design, the instrument rests on subtle spade legs and solid brass casters. The lid is able to sit on three different lid props depending on the acoustical requirements and features a bevelled edge. Available in a range of finishes, you’re sure to find a grand piano in the GX series to suit you.

Great place to choose the right piano for your needs, offers a wide selection for both the amateur and professional! I tried out a number of pianos. My second hand yamaha arrived pristine, and was delivered with care and attention. Plays beautifully and Richard was knowledgeable and helpful in giving playing tips to an amateur such as myself!

A huge thank you to Colin & Richard @ Richard Lawson Piano’s. If you are considering buying a piano then take my advice and look no further. I was in the market to purchase a grand Piano for my 13-year-old daughter and after looking for a couple of months, indecisive which Piano to purchase, I came across Richard Lawson Piano’s. My initial call was with Richard who was extremely nice, knowledgeable, relaxed and not sales pushy. Based on that I decided to make the journey across to Amersham from Kent to visit the showroom where the selection and choice was just endless. I was welcomed by Colin who’s knowledge was incredible, he took his time without pressurising me to make a decision nor did he pressurise me to purchase anything. If you’re not 100% sure what to buy and need to look around to consider options then look no further, this is the Piano supper market. They also opened up for us especially the day before Christmas break to collect. Thank you so very much for a fantastic service. All the best Matt & Kirstie

As a non player and first time piano purchaser buying for advanced level teenage players we needed allot of guidance and support in sourcing our piano. We have had an excellent service from Colin at Richard Lawson Pianos. From our initial telephone conversation to help us understand our requirements and give clear unbiased advice to what we should be looking for (and avoid), through to our showroom visit on the following weekend. Amazing showroom and selection of Pianos to select from, we enjoyed our visit and selection process. Purchasing, finance and delivery were all seemless and highly co-ordinated making everything simple and stress free. Great service all round.

I have been recommending Richard Lawson Pianos to my students for over 10 years, and every experience has been excellent. Colin was incredibly helpful from start to finish. I didn't even need to visit the showroom, as he promptly answered all my questions and matched the best price. He was also happy to hold the piano for over a month while I arranged the move of my previous piano. The delivery was almost impossible due to the access, but Colin organised everything smoothly. The delivery team worked incredibly hard and managed what seemed impossible. To make things even better, the piano technician contacted me just two days after delivery without me having to chase anyone. The piano was delivered on Friday, and I already had a message from the technician by Sunday. The level of customer service has been outstanding every time I have purchased a piano from Richard Lawson Pianos. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a quality piano and first-class service. Thank you so much, Colin, for all your help!
